UCH SMS Terms and Conditions
UCH complies with all federal and state laws pertaining to Short Message Service (SMS)/text messaging. Under HIPAA, it is permissible for a healthcare provider to send Protected Health Information (PHI) by SMS text if a patient has initiated a communication by SMS text or exercises their right to request confidential communications by SMS text.

By opting in to receive SMS/text messages from University Clinical Health, also known as UCH or UT Medical Group, and hereinafter also referred to as “we,” “us,” “our”), you (the patient) agree to these Terms and Conditions (Terms). UCH or its medical records contractor Datavant will not send you any SMS messages unless you have provided prior express written consent. You will receive these texts on demand based on your request, initiated when you call from a mobile device and intentionally press the option on the phone tree to receive text link to request your medical records.
Every text message that you receive from UCH/Datavant will include an easy-to-use ‘opt-out’ option if you decide you no longer wish to receive text messages from us.

Message Frequency
You may receive more than one message from UCH or Datavant unless you opt-out, as UCH and Datavant reserve the right to alter the frequency of messages at any time to increase or decrease the total number of messages. UCH and Datavant and carriers are not liable for any charges, errors, or delays in SMS delivery or undelivered messages caused by your carrier or third-party service providers.

Cancellation/Opt-Out Instructions
You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying “STOP” to any message we send you. After you opt out, you will receive one additional message confirming your request has been processed; after this, you will no longer receive text messages unless you opt back in.
