The University of Tennessee College of Medicine’s Center for Addiction Science Recognized as First Unified Addiction Medicine Center of Excellence in the Country

Posted on November 15, 2016

The UT Addiction Medicine practice operated by University Clinical Health has been recognized as the nation’s first unified Center of Excellence in Addiction Medicine by The Addiction Medicine Foundation.  The designation was announced at a ceremony featuring a who’s who of the Memphis Medical Community, city leaders and the executive vice president of The Addiction Medicine Foundation Kevin Kunz, MD, MPH. The Center of Excellence designation from the Addiction Medicine Foundation, a national organization that accredits physician training in addiction medicine, puts the center at the forefront of its field — as the first in the country to bring together clinical care, research, education and community outreach to address addiction and deadly substance use.

Here is just some of the coverage that the designation has received from the news media.
